Various shipped UI design & exploratory artefacts comprising SaaS, apps, software & web works for entities like Sir Christopher Lee...

Overview

Some assume I don’t, or, can’t do UI design. Funny assumption, right?  Fact is… I have extensive experience delivering UI design, having worked with notable entities like Sir Christopher Lee (Lord of the Rings, Star Wars), and Mustaine Management (Megadeth), as well as businesses like Sokos Hotels, Qantas Airlines, Host Europe (formerly GoDaddy), Epson, and BNP Paribas among others.  Additionally, I got featured in two publications focused on graphic illustration and print design (which I’m happy to discuss).

I proudly produce works by balancing business requirements, user needs, and more importantly culture, a construct often ignored by many designers and tech gurus.

Mobile

I am well versed designing native mobile apps by adhering to native iOS, Android and even Huawei requirements.  You may notice that several designs incorporate skeuomorphism, a style loved by many, and detested by others.  Fact is, skeuomorphism is making a comeback, thanks to AI interfaces and other ubiquitous technologies.

I may upload the mobile variants of the exemplified layouts once I figure out how to display these…

In my career, I also designed for prolific celebrities because people trust my skills, judgement & ability to design according to niche, target audience & culture...

Sir Christopher Lee (1922 - 2015)

You might find it hard to believe, but I’ve been in similar situations a few times. You might wonder how this particular collaboration came about. Well, I’m a professional musician (…yes that’s me) in a sub-genre with a strong community.

Of course, as a British national treasure, Sir Christopher Lee needs no introduction. However, many people are not aware that he was also a professional musician in the same music community as me. His band, Charlemagne, is well-regarded in our circles.  Are you connecting the dots now? Great. So you can probably guess how the story goes…

As for the job, it involved the redesign and deployment of a responsive website using Drupal CMS. Music websites, especially in the past, tend to be very artsy.

Dashboards (SaaS)

I have a passion for visualizing data and designing complex interfaces where content design and information architecture are paramount. Below are a few concepts, including one featuring a ‘conversational UI.’

Virtual Music Instruments (VSTs)

To conclude, below are 2 examples of virtual music instrument GUIs (software plugins).  Traditional to the niche, the UIs incorporate a degree of skeuomorphism.  You may ask, why did I design things that way?  Simply because, I abide with trends relative to the niche / domain, the usual requirements, metrics, and so on.
